Building Analyst Certification (includes RESNET HESP)

Qualify for two certifications at the same time with a blend of self-paced online modules and onsite field training. This course provides all the training necessary to challenge both the BPI Building Analyst Professional Certification Exam AND the RESNET Home Energy Survey Professional (HESP) Exam.  The curriculum includes over 24-hours of self-paced e-Learning, a 90-min Energy Audit training DVD and 1-day of onsite, hands-on field training. Topics include BPI Building Evaluation Standards, heat loss and savings calculations, step-by-step energy audit & diagnostic procedures, developing and prioritizing a retrofit work scope.

BPI Envelope Professional Certification

Brief course Overview

This course will provide a better understanding of why the diagnostic process is so important, why problems related to the building shell such as moisture, ice dams, mildew and drafts were a problem in the first place, and more importantly how to mitigate them. Upon completion, students will be well prepared to challenge the Building Envelope Specialist Certification Exams.

Why Take BPI Envelope Specialist Training?

The BPI Envelope Specialist Certification in conjunction with the Building Analyst Certification will make your company eligible to apply for BPI Contractor Accreditation. Accreditation or multiple certifications may be required to participate in various state incentives programs.

Prerequisite Requirements
Students must have completed their Building Analyst training and passed their exams.

BPI Building Analyst
AND Building Envelope Specialist All-Inclusive Course

Brief course Overview

This combined course provides all the training necessary to challenge BOTH the BPI Building Analyst (BA) Professional and the Building Envelope Specialist (ES) Exam. The curriculum includes 30-hours of e-Learning, a 90-min Energy Audit training DVD and 1-day of onsite field training. Topics include BPI Building Evaluation Standards, heat loss and savings calculations, step-by-step energy audit & diagnostic procedures, developing and prioritizing a retrofit work scope.

The course also covers why the diagnostic process is so important, why problems related to the building shell such as moisture, ice dams, mildew and drafts were a problem in the first place, and more importantly how to mitigate them. RESNET Home Energy Survey Professional (HESP) Certification

Brief Course Overview

This 16-hour, self-paced, e-Learning course will prepare you for the RESNET HESP Certification Exam. The course is divided into 10 sessions and covers all the foundational building energy and construction science to begin a career as a home energy professional. A Level-1 Home Energy Survey Professional (HESP) is qualified to conduct a walk-through assessment of the general energy performance problems and make basic recommendations for improvements or further analysis.

NOTE: This course also serves as the first part (16 of the 34 hours) of the BPI Building Analyst curriculum

RESNET EnergySmart Contractor Course

Brief Course Overview

This 8-hour e-Learning course will prepare you for the RESNET Qualified Contractors Exam. The course is divided into 2 modules for a total of 9 sessions and covers all the foundational building energy fundamentals and retrofit work scope requirements and recommendations.

A RESNET Qualified Contractor is credentialed to work in concert with certified auditors to complete home performance improvement work in compliance with RESNET’s work scope standards of practice. Once qualified, the contractor is eligible for listing on the RESNET Registry of Qualified Contractors and can proudly display the RESNET Energy-Smart logo on his website and marketing materials

Begin the online course immediately and take up to 30 days to complete. When finished, Home Energy Team Institute will send you the link to take the RESNET Contractors Exam online and provide your designation.

  • Basics of heat transfer concepts and air distribution leakage
  • The energy consequences of common construction practices
  • Basic Combustion Appliance concerns
